Service Dogs by Nicole G.

Are you interested in what service dogs can do? There are many people who have to deal with disabilities or issues they have in life. It can be anxiety, disorders, diabetes, mental illness, etc. These service animals provide attention and help on a day to day basis. In this case a service dog is an amazing helper and is very much worth getting. Service dogs can help with people’s physical and mental well being.

It’s thrilling how service dogs can help with people’s anxiety. According to “Top 10 Benefits of Therapy and Service Dogs,” service dogs help with anxiety relief. For those living with anxiety disorders, a service dog can provide reassurance and help create a safe place so you can feel comfortable. A service dog will make you feel special and willing to trust them. “Studies have shown that when we touch dogs, it has a healing power because hormones like dopamine and beta endorphins are released.” My mom has a friend who owns a service dog and one day we were at her house and then she collapsed; then I saw her service dog run and get her the right medication to help her get better. If you have daily problems and want a loving well-behaved dog, get a service dog. It’s crazy on how many things they can do.

Having a service dog can help with daily tasks. Owning a service dog is like having a child or another person to help you. According to Akc.org in the sourc“Service Dogs 101- Everything You Need to Know,” it states on how service dogs can do so many things that people don’t think of. Our helpful furry friends can help with pills, groceries, and even handing you diapers if ur a mom. One nice afternoon I was heading to Publix, I walked into an aisle when I saw a lady and a service dog was grabbing cookies and was thinking on how to put the cookies in the cart. The dog looked like it works amazing doing their job. Who could ever even believe service dogs are like human beings. This just proves service dogs could do mostly everything.

I find it fascinating on how service dogs are on always on high alert. According to Cooperativepaws.com and the source “Alert! Service Dogs and Alert Training,” it says “ Service dogs are being trained to alert to everything from allergens, seizures and autoimmune flare ups to blood sugar changes and much moreAlerts are the most exciting area of growth in the field of service dog training, and also the most mysterious.” This all leads to service dogs having awesome focusing skills. It’s hard for them to learn but when they do it they act like they have known things for years. On a Friday morning, I went to Walmart when all of the sudden a dog with a service dog with a vest tried to get my and my mom’s attention. So we followed the dog to find his owner on the floor, and soon after we helped the lady and asked for help. Please teach your child/children to not try to touch, call over, or interact with a service dog without having their owner’s permission. It’s always good to know you have a little assistant that can help you and is always focused. Service dogs are always on point when it comes to helping their loved ones.

To sum up everything I have stated so far, service dogs are capable of doing many tasks. To a variety of people, service dogs are more then just pets and companions. Service dogs help thousands of people across the world and we are extremely thankful for that. If service dogs didn’t exist it would be very sad due to many people needing service dogs daily. Have you ever came across a service dog?

In the site servicedogs.com, service Labradors are trained to assist people that have mental disorders. The task of a service Labrador is to keep people with mental disorders safe. To sum up information, service Labradors could be the greatest animals alive. The reason this is, is because you can be so playful with them, and they wouldn’t get mad. To me, blind pedestrians need them more to walk because they can bump into someone or a car. My point is if you want a service dog, this is my recommendation.

Support Parrots by Jayne A.

People that have mental or physical disabilities can greatly benefit with the help of a support animal. There are many types of support or service animals, and the most common ones are dogs. More and more along the years there have been new types of service animals like cats, pigs, and parrots. There are many types of parrots like small cockatoos, macaws, or like African greys. The most looked for parrot is the African grey. Due to the fact that the African greys can mimic sounds, noises, can talk, are highly intelligent, and can sense people emotions, they are picked as support animals.

To begin with, African greys are highly intelligent. According to lafeber.com in the article called “Parrots as Service Animals,” “With innate abilities to mimic human voice and acquiring phrases.” This means that the African greys can speak to you in clear words and words you'll be able to understand. “The parrots are able to provide a calming influence over those suffering from various levels of anxiety.” Also, their calming present provides a soothing environment. “The parrots had been successfully used to soothe the man’s anxieties enabling him to merge more seamlessly with society.” Meaning that the parrot can stay calm in public, making the man feel more comfortable around people.

Additionally, parrots are highly trainable. According to the Petsoid.com this article called “Parrots as Service Animals,” “most of these birds treat their owners very well. It doesn’t take long for a parrot to establish a deep and lasting bond with its owner.” This is saying that parrots easily become friends with their new owners. “Parrots with innate abilities to mimic human voice and acquiring phrases to use.” This means parrots can learn any word or learn what you teach it to say. “You can however, train parrots to perform certain actions. This can be particularly useful for those who are prone to self-harming behaviors.” This is basically saying that you can train the parrots to do certain acts or things to stop self-harm. They are there as an extra helpful presence in someone’s household.

Lastly, parrots can sense peoples’ emotions. According to lafeber.com article, parrots can sense peoples’ emotions. “Parrots are known to be intuitively aware of the human emotions.”  Basically, this is saying that if you get mad, sad, or feel nervous the parrot can pick up how you feel. They can sense when their owner becomes angry, when they become stressed, and begin to grow tense as a result. This is saying that they can sense the changes in your body heat and your energy. “By the trained use of certain phrases that can soothe an increasingly agitated individual, an ESA parrot can provide an emotional assistance that can be most helpful.” Meaning that they can show the parrots certain words and sentences to help calm their owners down.

To end all these thoughts, having a parrot as a support animal is greatly beneficial. They are highly intelligent, trainable, and good at sensing people’s emotion. You can teach them how to talk and imitate sounds that you want them to say. As a result, people with mental or physical disabilities can greatly benefit with the help of a parrot as their service animal.

Therapy Ferrets by Terrell H.

Therapy animals are the best! Here’s why ferret as an example. They bond closely and quickly with people, and when you’re down they check on you or kiss you to make feel better. Ferrets help with depression and anxiety with people who suffer through health issues. The ferrets don’t get stressed with moving a lot since they’re trained and friendly. They are great therapy animals.

To start off, ferrets cure depression by comforting their owners. They have good behavior and offer companionship. Their best Benefits are they’re small, so they can ride on airplanes. They are calm and easy to carry. They’re bathroom trained so they won’t make a mess. They don’t bark, fight, or run around everywhere. They’re almost trained to wake up their owners and tell them to take their medication. They don’t need a lot of food. They also give comfort to emotion symptoms. The article that stated these benefits was found on “Be Ferrets.”

Next, how many disabilities are they good for? Well, ferrets can help with physical, psychiatric, intellectual, and mental disabilities. Ferret-owning benefits include lowering their owners’ blood pressure. They can also reduce depression and anxiety and feelings of emotional isolation. They can provide comfort for people or owners in pain or who are ill. They increase socialization and communication. Ferret owners are known to be soothed by their ferrets. I found this information in the source“Be Chewy.”

Finally, ferrets are very social and quiet, which make these ferrets good therapy animals. Ferrets help their owners make friendships when they are alone or social awkward. They can help people with and without disabilities. They don’t trigger allergies compared to other furry animals. They don’t really need outdoor space, so they are fine indoors. Ferrets are also highly trained to alert their owners the take their medication.

To conclude, the way ferrets bond quickly with their owners benefits them a lot. The way they wake up owners to stop harmful behaviors which help with anxiety depression and other symptoms is priceless. And ferrets can help with communication when with owners are shy. Ferrets are good all around.

Golden Retrievers by David P.

Did you know golden retrievers are one of the smartest if not the smartest service dogs in the world?  To start with, one reason this is true is because they are strong dog breeds who have great physical support. Another reason these animals are great is they are easy to train because of how obedient they are. This shows they are nice dogs that will take orders their trainer gives them. These animals are probably the sweetest dogs seen.

Firstly, golden retrievers are amazing service animals. They are very calm around people, they are alert but don’t react to much, they will follow you around a lot, they are very good at socializing in different environments, and they are able to be touched. These all build up to a nice friendly service dog. In “Training Golden Retrievers to Be Excellent Service Dog Breeds” the golden retriever’s ability to adapt to different situations is high. It makes it a very ideal breed of dogs. And what makes it a fantastic service animal is it has feelings for people who are hurting. In “Golden Retrievers As Service Dogs (Training, Facts & Myths),” “The traits that make a good service dog can vary depending on what tasks they perform.” “For instance, if they’re trained to help someone physically, then they need to be big and strong enough to perform these tasks.” These two sentences show how a dog needs to be trained for physical tasks.

These animals in my eyes are very trustworthy service animals. They can be costly, but you can get around that. It costs about $30,000 to get a trained service dog golden retriever. But instead, the cheaper way of getting a trained service dog is to train the dog alone or work with a professional. In “Golden Retrievers as Service Dogs,” “It is important for a service dog to have a certain set of characteristics that make them good candidates for learning skills and supporting their owner.” This shows how perfect it will be to train a golden retriever to be a service dog. With these set of attributes, it shows how they are incredible. And even though you are training your retriever, it needs breaks.

Next, some people have problems getting around. In “Golden Retrievers as Service Dogs,” as their name indicates, “golden retrievers love to retrieve.” The fact these retrievers are quickly able to understand commands shows golden retrievers are good for mobility assistance. The last reason that I have about the golden retriever being a great service animal is the golden retriever is not easily distracted by obstacles. So they love to retrieve and they are focused on their handlers.

Finally, golden retrievers are good all around. Their perfect behavior, their great physicality, and smartness shows how good this breed is as service animals. Golden retrievers are in love with bringing items back, which is good for bringing items you need back to you. And The animal isn’t easily distracted away from missions. All these things combine up to how a golden retriever is a beneficial service animal.

Support Rabbits by Belen A.

Is a rabbit a good option for a support animal? Rabbits are very social with people and can make great companions and emotional support animals. Rabbits bond quickly with their owners, and their loving, caring nature makes them an ideal emotional support animal. Rabbits that have bonded strongly with their owners can recognize them by their voice and will eventually learn to come when their name is called, so there are benefits of having rabbits as support animals as they are trainable, loving, and caring.

A reason rabbits are good support animals is because they are loving and have a caring personality. Only people who have ever owned a rabbit know that these adorable furry creatures are gentle and docile by nature. According to the website supportrabbitcertification.org, it states that “even if they are quiet their loving and caring personality builds a strong bond with the owners.” For example, they can recognize their owners by their voices and can hop on them when they call their name. I had a bunny once, although he wasn’t a support animal, and he loved to cuddle, was always gentle so it made me feel much better to have a bunny that loves and cares for me. While the human is caressing the bunny, his/her endorphins can be stimulated that can calm the emotions and reduce any stress, which is beneficial for someone who is feeling low and needs emotional comfort.

Another reason is that rabbits are trainable. According to the source“Rabbits Are Easy To Train,” rabbits respond very well to positive reinforcement training. For example, give them training treats as a reward when they perform the tasks correctly. When I had my rabbit, he knew how to use a litter box as long as I gave him a little guidance. You need to place the box in their living area and put several layers of newspaper under the hay. Then the house training for these animals comes naturally. A well-trained rabbit can come when called and perform tricks. This is a strong benefit of having this animal, making things easier for handlers and owners.

Lastly, rabbits can be emotional support animals. According to the website bunnyland.com, “If you suffer from conditions such as anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions and find that your pet improves your ability to function in daily life, then you can get your rabbit certificated as an emotional support animal.” Getting certification this will help you find housing and travel without the need to be separated from your pet. If you’ve ever lived with a pet rabbit, I’m sure you understand how amazing they are for your mental health. As someone who grew up familiar with those who have anxiety, I cannot begin to explain how much a pet rabbit has helped others cope with life and improve their mental health. They cuddle, are friendly and are there for their owners. This was just another added benefit.

To analyze everything I have talked about, rabbits have many benefits of being support animals. They are friendly around people, healthy, and are easy to care for. They are comfortable around unfamiliar places, and completely litter trained with no accidents. Pet rabbits can be emotional support animals and providing many benefits.
